Samsung Intros Brightest 46-inch LCDMay 14th, 2008Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. – provider of thin-film transistor, liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) panels – has announced that it has begun mass producing a 46-inch “high bright” digital signage panel – the brightest LCD panel in the world. Samsung said that its new 1500-nit LCD panel is now available for use in digital signs for transit centers, bus shelters, museums, shopping malls and for use at point of sale in retail outlets, to replace outdated poster advertisings. The panel is designed to optimally accommodate the tremendous range of lighting conditions affecting displays. Visix Releases AxisTV UpdateMay 14th, 2008Visix Inc. has unveiled the latest update of its digital signage software application, AxisTV version 7.0.9. The release includes a variety of new features, enhancements and a few bug fixes for a significantly improved user experience. Additionally, the release is designed for greater overall application performance, improved network integration for diverse IT infrastructures and support for multiple browsers. EnQii Partners with LocaModaMay 14th, 2008EnQii, a global provider in the digital out-of-home market, is partnering with LocaModa, a mobile social platform provider, in order to optimize the "new media triad" of digital signage, mobile devices and the web, while becoming part of the largest growing network of connected places. EnQii North American president Stuart Armstrong says that the "new media triad" represents a digital on-ramp for consumers to opt-in to branded communities, and is a powerful new way for media owners, brands and locations to engage consumers and measure these interactions. Omnivex Enhances St. Joseph Hospital Operating FacilityMay 14th, 2008Omnivex Corporation – a provider of enterprise software for digital signage networks – has announced that St. Joseph Hospital in Orange County, Calif., is using the company’s software to provide better access to the operative status of each patient in its operating facility. St. Joseph Hospital’s existing patient database is updated as patient and operative statuses change.
